This year I want to keep better track of my reading progress throughout the next twelve months. I also want to make more friends who also like to read. I feel like most of my friends prefer other media over books, so I’d love to have more people to talk to about books and to recommend books back and forth with. Here are two apps I use to track the books I read.
I was introduced to Goodreads last year when I picked up reading again. I’m in a reading group on Facebook and a lot of people talked about using it. I also saw a couple of people I know on Instagram posting about it, so I figured I would try it out. I think it’s a cool idea to be able to track your reading and all of the books you’ve ever read all through an app. I think it’s especially awesome that I was able to connect my Goodreads account to my Kindle.
I like that not only can I track what I’m reading or have read, but I can also track what I want to read. There’s even a page in the app for discovering new books to read. The app recommends new books based off of what you have been reading, and they also show you what has been popular or released lately.
I would love to have more reading friends, so if you have a Goodreads account, I’d love if you added me as a friend. Here’s the link.

Earlier this week, my friend Andy told me about an app called StoryGraph. He told me that he heard about it from TikTok and he recommended it to me. I made an account and started adding books into it. In StoryGraph, you can mark if you own a book. I imputed all of the books on my bookshelf and filed them as read or to be read. By logging all of the books I own, I was able to figure out that I have over one hundred books on my bookshelf. It’s kind of crazy to me that I have so many books.
Something I really like about StoryGraph is that you don’t only track your reading on it, but the app also tracks your reading trends. You can also import your Goodreads infortmation (your want to read list, books you’re reading, and books you’ve read) into the StoryGraph app so that you don’t need to read all the books into the new app.
If you use StoryGraph and would like to add me, my username is ambermerlini.
My reading goal for 2023 is twenty-four books. I figured two books a month is a reasonable goal. If I read more than that then it’s even better. I’ll be using both apps to track my 2023 reading. I’d love to discuss what I read with people so if you’re interested, you can contact me through the two apps or my Instagram that I have attached to this website. Happy reading!
